Two people were arrested in Hialeah for their involvement in a medical fraud scheme to defraud insurance companies.

The arrested individuals, among whom there is at least one woman, are facing charges of organized fraud, extortion, organized crime, illegal patient brokering, and insurance fraud.

According to a report by Telemundo 51, agents from the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office raided a clinic located at 900 W 49th Street and arrested three individuals who were perpetrating scams through false car accidents, aiming to defraud insurance companies.

The suspects, who have not yet been identified, will appear in bail court on Thursday.

The Police indicate that this type of crime is carried out by well-organized networks, in which clinics fake traffic accidents, recruit fake patients, and submit fraudulent claims to insurance companies to collect multimillion-dollar payouts.

It is a scheme that also involves lawyers, body shops, and even tow trucks.

Due to the high volume of cases, the authorities in Miami-Dade are implementing a pilot program to detect fraudulent collisions.

According to the National Insurance Crimes Bureau, one in three suspicious fraud claims in the county comes from that area of the city, where insurance prices are also significantly higher than in other regions.

In the United States, losses from scams involving fake accidents exceed two billion dollars annually.
