The price of gasoline in Florida has become unstable again, with prices rising by 12 cents last week and then dropping by 8 cents over the weekend.

However, this Monday, drivers encountered, on a state average, a price of $3.08 per gallon, which represents 6 cents higher than what was observed last week, 10 cents lower than last month, and 24 cents lower than at the same time last year, according to a report from CBS News.

According to Mark Jenkins, spokesperson for AAA - The Auto Club Group in the southern state, "gas prices in Florida continue to fluctuate but have remained within the same range of 25 cents since early September."

His statement indicates that, despite this supposed stability, which is not reflected in drivers' wallets, "seasonal factors could exert upward pressure on pump prices in the coming months."

Jenkins also mentioned that "the spring maintenance season for refineries typically peaks in late February and March. This, combined with an increase in fuel demand due to spring travel and the switch to summer gasoline, usually contributes to higher prices in the spring. To put it in perspective, last year, gasoline prices rose by 30 cents from late February to late March."

For its part, the average price of gasoline nationwide was $3.14 per gallon this Monday.

In this context, at the gas stations in the major cities of Florida, the prices could be found as follows, according to CBS News:

Miami-Dade had an average price of $3.07 per gallon, compared to $3.04 a week ago. A year ago, the average price was $3.34 per gallon.

In Broward, on the other hand, fuel was slightly higher, averaging $3.08, compared to $3.03 a week ago. A year ago, the average was $3.38 per gallon.

It was reported that the most expensive places to buy gasoline in the state are the areas of West Palm Beach-Boca Raton and Naples, while it is cheaper in Panama City ($2.83 per gallon), Pensacola ($2.85 per gallon), and Crestview-Fort Walton Beach ($2.85 per gallon), according to AAA.

According to Florida Politics, gasoline in Florida is one of the most expensive in the nation, yet it still has an average price per gallon well below states like California ($4.84), Hawaii ($4.55), and Washington ($4.15).

However, it is significantly more expensive than in states like Mississippi ($2.67), Texas ($2.73), and Louisiana ($2.74), among others.
