Cuban YouTuber Frank Camallerys is now a Spanish citizen: "A dream come true"

The Cuban youtuber Frank Camallerys has just obtained his Spanish passport, four years after arriving in that European country.

Frank shared a photo of the long-awaited document taken at the bar in Madrid he visited on his first trip, right after leaving the airport, and to which he has returned many times.

"Today I did it differently; I did it like a true Spaniard..." he announced on his Instagram account.

"Today I close an important chapter in my life, marking the end of the immigrant cycle. I can now proudly say that I am Cuban-Spanish. Spain opened its doors to me, gave me opportunities, and, above all, a home where I feel part of something bigger," he stated.

The young man commented that it hurts him not to be able to return to Cuba, which is why he is so grateful to be able to become one of the people in the place he now calls his country.

"This is not just a document; it is a piece of my history that forever binds me to this land that has given me so much, including love, a family, and friends who are now family. Today, I toast to the past that brought me here and to the future that awaits me as a citizen of this wonderful country," he concluded.

Camallerys moved to Spain in October 2021, following an assault he experienced in Mexico City, when he was stabbed at the very entrance of his home.

The young man was the victim of an assault in Mexico on June 1 of that year, when a stranger awaited him at the entrance of his building with a supposed package after he returned from the gym. The Cuban sustained a knife wound to the pelvis and was subsequently hospitalized due to intestinal complications arising from the injury.

In May of last year, Frank elicited laughter from his followers and applause for his Spanish boyfriend by sharing a TikTok video where he tested his knowledge of expressions and words used in Cuba.

"My boyfriend is Spanish and we are going to test his Cubanness, to see how much he has learned from three years alongside a Cuban," she says at the beginning of the video.

In March, the influencer experienced the emotional moment that many Cubans dream of: reuniting with family. After several years without being able to embrace his loved ones, they gathered in Miami, where he traveled from Spain on a tourist visa and spent a few days enjoying the company of his family.
