Facebook posts indicate that the noted graffiti artist has moved to Madrid, Spain, with his wife and child.

In statements to CiberCuba, he explained the reasons for his departure, assuring that the decline and misery confronting the country left him without options to live with dignity.

Rodríguez pointed out that the restrictions imposed by the government made it impossible for him to make a living from his art. “I couldn't open any space to sell my work because they threatened the owners, nor could I participate in any cultural center,” he stated.

Additionally, he reported that the increasing violence and the degradation of Cuban society led him to make the decision to leave.

"Living in Cuba is already a risk. I couldn't allow my son to grow up here in a system where education and social projection are based on lies," said the artist.

In his view, the regime corrupts the character of individuals, turning them into accomplices of oppression.

"The Cuban population is becoming increasingly ignorant, unaware, and violent each day," he lamented.

Yulier P., born in Camagüey in 1989, gained notoriety in Havana with his graffiti of expressionist and ghostly figures, many of which were removed by orders from the State Security.

For years, the authorities pursued him and prevented him from exhibiting in official circuits, forcing him to work with debris and recycled materials to continue his craft.

In previous interviews with our outlet, he had stated that he did not plan to flee Cuba, but the extreme conditions of repression and social deterioration forced him to change his decision.
