MSC Cruises inaugurated this Saturday at the Port of Miami a fully biometric cruise terminal, considered by the company to be the “largest and most advanced in the world”, with the capacity to process up to 36,000 passengers daily.
This infrastructure reinforces the city's position as the Cruise Capital.
For the first time, this type of terminal incorporates a fully biometric boarding process, with digital identity verification that promises to significantly streamline the passenger experience.
Travelers will be able to complete their registration from home via an app, use facial scanning for quick entry, and pass through one of the 22 biometric electronic gates installed at the entrance.
The space, designed by the firm Arquitectonica and constructed by Fincantieri Infrastructure, covers approximately 46,000 square meters and is the first terminal in the world capable of accommodating three cruise ships simultaneously.

Among its innovations, there is also an outdoor digital art installation that uses real-time data to dynamically visualize the tides, currents, and weather patterns.
The terminal will serve as the home port for the company's new flagship, the MSC World America, which will set sail for the Caribbean in the coming days.
It will also serve the ships of MSC Cruceros and Explora Journeys that depart from the port.
Additionally, it features a six-story garage with over 2,400 parking spaces, available for advance reservation, making it an infrastructure designed to enhance every aspect of the journey.
Pierfrancesco Vago, CEO of the Cruise Division of the MSC Group, stated that this new headquarters solidifies the company’s presence in the Port of Miami, one of the 300 destinations in more than 100 countries that the company operates in.
Vago emphasized that, for the past 35 years, MSC has been a key partner for the U.S. economy through the growth of its maritime and port operations.
For his part, Rubén A. Rodríguez, president of MSC Cruises USA, celebrated that these new facilities are ready to welcome the new cruise that will begin its itineraries in the Caribbean this very week.
