The price of gasoline continues to drop in Florida and is approaching three dollars per gallon

The trend corresponds to a 12 percent decrease in oil prices in the United States over the last 15 days.

The average price of gasoline in Florida has decreased by 10 cents in recent days and currently stands at $3.11 per gallon, which represents the lowest value recorded in the last two weeks.

Thus, reported this Monday the American Automobile Association (AAA), which anticipates a possible further drop in prices during this week, with the potential for the state average to fall back down to the threshold of 3 dollars per gallon.

“The recent drop in crude oil prices is already impacting prices at the pumps,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesperson for AAA, in comments quoted by Diario Las Américas. “It is likely that the state average will continue to decrease this week, possibly approaching the $3 per gallon threshold again.”

Why is gasoline decreasing?

The trend responds to the 12% drop in oil prices in the United States over the last 15 days, equivalent to more than 7 dollars per barrel, as well as a decrease of 24 cents per gallon in gasoline futures during the same period, which is already reflected in the state's gas stations.

Additionally, there is a decrease in seasonal demand for fuel and a slowdown in the global energy markets, factors that have also contributed to the decline in crude prices.

Tips for saving on fuel

AAA also provided recommendations to maximize fuel efficiency and reduce expenses: Combine errands and reduce unnecessary trips; drive smoothly, avoiding sudden stops or accelerations; and limit the weight of the vehicle: removing 100 unnecessary pounds can improve fuel efficiency by 1% to 2%.

He also stated that it is beneficial to compare local prices using mobile applications, such as AAA's, and to pay in cash, as some stations charge additional fees for credit card payments.

This relief in prices comes just as spring begins, a season when road trips in Florida increase. Although the trend may vary with changes in the energy market, drivers are currently enjoying some financial relief.
