El Kamel reacts to the controversy over the AI tribute to El Taiger: “It’s ugly to see his friends fighting among themselves.”

Kamel defends the memory of El Taiger following the tribute with AI and critiques the controversy on social media. He asserts that the rights and earnings are legally managed for the heirs of the reggaeton artist.

Amid the uproar over the tribute to El Taiger with artificial intelligence during the concert of Charly & Johayron, the Cuban reggaeton artist El Kamel decided to speak out about the controversy and took to his Instagram stories to passionately defend the memory of his colleague and friend, and to set straight those who—according to him—are speaking out of turn on social media.

"The crazy one made everything clear before he left," she said bluntly. Kamel explained that the laws protecting music and an artist's image rights after their death are very clear, and in El Taiger's case, everything is legally in order: "All that chatter you see on social media is just nonsense and a show looking for attention."

He assured that everything regarding José —the real name of El Taiger— is under legal control and that the law automatically withholds the earnings to distribute them among the heirs. “Neither the manager nor anyone else has authority here,” El Kamel stated, making it clear that no one from outside can make decisions that override what is already legally established.

He also mentioned El Taiger's lifestyle in his later years: “José had his way of living and spent a lot of money, which is why he asked his managers for bookings, because he didn’t manage his finances well... but that doesn't mean he was homeless”, he emphasized. “May God have mercy on you who talk so much nonsense, and you know what? I congratulate him because he lived life on his own terms and enjoyed it. May God keep him in glory.”

In another post, he lamented that the discussion had escalated among people close to the reggaeton artist. “José is no longer in a position to say what he wants and what he doesn't... what I do find unfortunate is José's friends fighting and turning against each other,” he expressed sadly.

El Kamel thus joins more colleagues of the late artist, who have also spoken out about what happened this weekend in Miami when Charly and Johayron paid tribute to El Taiger using artificial intelligence at their concert at the Watsco Center.

The controversy over the use of AI in tributes to deceased artists continues to ignite debate, but El Kamel is clear: “they seem crazy talking nonsense on social media,” because for him, what matters is that José lived as he wanted, and the legacy he left still belongs to him and his true heirs.
