The well-known Cuban actress Coralita Veloz, an emblematic figure in the theater, television, and cinema of the Island, underwent emergency surgery in Miami after suffering a domestic fall that resulted in a serious fracture of her right shoulder.

The intervention, carried out on April 23 in a hospital in the city, was essential to prevent a total loss of mobility in his arm.

It all began unexpectedly on the morning of April 10, on an ordinary day. Coralita, 75 years old, stepped out onto the porch of her house to say goodbye to her grandson Iré when a slip caused her to fall to the ground in a dramatic tumble.

According to her daughter, actress and host María Karla Rivero Veloz (Maka), on her channel YouTube "La Casa de Maka," her mother was taken to the hospital, where the doctors, upon initial evaluation, ruled out the need for surgery.

Standard recommendations—rest, pain relief, and orthopedic follow-up—marked the beginning of a wait that only increased her family's concern. As the days went by, the pain persisted, showing no signs of improvement.

In the absence of answers, Maka took her to a shoulder specialist at Kendall Hospital, who gave them a definitive diagnosis: surgery needed to be performed immediately.

"The orthopedic surgeon told him: 'You have the option not to have surgery; in two months all the pain will go away, but you won’t be able to do anything else with that arm,'" María Karla detailed.

"She became very nervous, and I understand her, because if they had said, 'Next week I’ll operate on you,' you have a few days to think about it. But if in the afternoon they say, 'You’re checking in at six in the morning...'. The problem is that fracture couldn’t wait any longer," she added.

The surgery was performed under general anesthesia and lasted more than an hour. The surgeon placed a metal plate with several screws to fix the fracture. Although the recovery has been painful and the surgical wound is large, the operation was a success.

"I'm all screwed up," joked Coralita, who faced the process with great strength and now shows a lot of enthusiasm, discipline, and willpower to undergo the therapies.

Mother and daughter publicly thanked all the friends, family, and followers, many of them from Cuba, who have been concerned about the health of the veteran actress.

"When one is in a situation like this, it’s when you realize the family you have. What a beautiful family I have, what wonderful friends I have. This truly helps me to ease the pain," she affirmed.

Maka explained that the family decided not to make the news of the surgery public immediately to avoid unnecessary alarm while they ensured that her condition was under control.

Now, with the operation completed and the danger passed, they wanted to share what happened as a way of expressing gratitude to those who have accompanied the process with affection and genuine concern.

Coralita Veloz is one of the most beloved and respected figures in Cuban art. Her legacy spans generations of audiences who remember her for her stage versatility, charisma, and dedication to her craft.

Although this stage has been particularly difficult, those who know her do not doubt that her strength, combined with the support of her family and medical team, will enable her to overcome the challenge and return to her daily life with the dignity she has always carried.

As her recovery progresses, Coralita is expected to share new updates from the digital space she maintains with her daughter, where thousands of followers are eagerly awaiting encouraging news from this living legend of the Cuban scene.
