The price of the U.S. dollar (USD) continues its upward trend in Cuba's unofficial market, reaching this Friday 369 Cuban pesos (CUP) per unit.
The USD is one peso more expensive than on the previous day, according to the daily monitoring data published by elTOQUE.
The euro remains stable but once again surpasses the dollar. It is currently valued at 385 CUP. The European currency thus stands as the highest valued in the informal market, reaffirming its preference among those receiving remittances or engaging in cash transactions.
On the other hand, the MLC (Freely Convertible Currency), used in state-run stores that operate in foreign currency, remains at 265 CUP.
Inflation and the strong demand for foreign currencies continue to drive prices up on the island, while the Cuban peso keeps losing purchasing power.
