Rey El Mago defends La Diosa after criticism of her music: "We produce the vulgar part out of respect for the audience that requests it."

Rey El Mago defends La Diosa against criticism of her song "La Conchinchina," arguing that music reflects a diversity of tastes and does not define the artists. He announces a new album titled "Joyas."

In recent days, La Diosa has been the target of much criticism for the lyrics of her latest song “La Conchinchina”, which users on social media have labeled as vulgar.

One of the people who harshly criticized her was Evelyn, the aunt of Damián Valdez-Galloso, the man who killed El Taiger, who called her "riffraff" and even compared her to La Cintumbares, saying there were no differences between them.

The husband of La Diosa, Rey El Mago, came to the artist's defense on Instagram and did so with great composure, expressing his views on working in music.

“It’s her opinion, and like her, many people have their opinions as well. I will tell you something, understand that music was made for positive things; it was invented and created for negative things too. It was made to convey both positive and negative messages. Music is a means of communication, of expression... music encompasses everything that exists in the universe. Just as there is an audience for fine art, there is an audience that enjoys this type of music,” reflected the Cuban producer.

Rey made it clear that a song and its lyrics do not define them as individuals and neither is it their style to follow, it is simply a topic that a certain audience requests.

“It is vulgar, yes, sometimes we do things that are not vulgar and they are not as well received, but that doesn’t mean it will be the pattern to follow or the end of the road (...) Making one or two vulgar songs doesn’t define anyone; the world is full of vulgar things, and I don’t see people focusing solely on those artists who make vulgar music (...) We do the vulgar part out of respect for the audience that requests it,” Rey assured.

The producer announced that he has completed the music for what will be the new album by La Diosa, a ten-song production titled Joyas, which is a tribute to Latin music and the Prodigious Decade.
