A small-scale fire broke out on the afternoon of this Saturday in the sterilization area of the "14 de junio" polyclinic in Jobabo, Las Tunas.
According to the official journalist Domínguez Espinosa from Radio Cabaiguán, the fire occurred at 5:05 PM this Saturday due to a short circuit.
In the sterilization area of the polyclinic, an air conditioning unit (split) had an issue with the wiring that led to the ignition of the fire.
"The swift action of the workers in the sterilization area helped extinguish the fire and prevent its spread," noted the reporter's statement. However, the photos shared on social media show the area completely charred.
Hospitalized patients at the care center are in good condition, as noted, and it was not necessary to evacuate them.
The president of the Municipal Defense Council, Osmel Osorio López, and the vice president of that body, Yordi Agüero Ricardo, along with other leaders from the Ministry of the Interior, the general health department, and the fire department, visited the polyclinic.
A few days ago, in the main municipality of Las Tunas, another small-scale fire caused alarm when an electric tricycle caught fire inside a home, resulting in significant material damage.
The incident quickly mobilized the Fire Department of Command 105, who arrived at the scene and managed to extinguish the flames before they spread to nearby structures, according to reports from official social media profiles.
The quick intervention of the firefighters was key to preventing greater consequences. Two individuals were affected by smoke inhalation and were taken to the Dr. Ernesto Guevara Provincial Hospital, where they received medical attention, according to local media reports.
Post-incident photos reveal the extent of the damage: the tricycle was completely charred, reduced to its metal framework, and the furniture in the home shows severe damage. There are also reports of damage to appliances such as refrigerators.
