On the night of January 24, 2019, in a house in Seminole County, Florida, three people were murdered in cold blood. The victims were a married couple of professionals and their eldest son.

The author of the crime was his own son and younger brother, Grant Amato, a 29-year-old nurse consumed by an addiction that drove him to the edge.

Six years after the event, the platform SkyShowtime premieres the documentary “Ctrl+Alt+Desire”, a three-part series that revisits this harrowing case with exclusive statements from Amato himself from prison, where he is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole, reported SensaCine.

A family crime that shocked Florida

Grant Amato was accused of shooting his father Chad (59 years old), his mother Margaret (61), and his brother Cody (31), after they tried to distance him from a Bulgarian model from an adult website, to whom he had transferred more than $200,000 stolen from his family.

The Amato family had tried everything. They faced their son's addiction, sent him to a rehabilitation program, imposed strict rules on him, and even gave him a final ultimatum to cut all ties with the woman.

When Grant broke the rules again, his father kicked him out of the house. Hours later, the family was found dead with gunshot wounds to the head, in what forensic experts described as an execution.

A double life and a descent into hell

Despite having a university degree and having worked as an anesthetist nurse, Grant was fired after stealing medications from the hospital where he worked. Out of work, he turned to “streaming,” although his true goal was to spend hours on pornographic platforms, paying tokens to chat with the model “Adysweet.”

Addiction and deceit became his daily routine. When his salary ran out, he stole the savings of his parents and brother to maintain that virtual relationship. His family, nonetheless, tried to help him. But his refusal to change had fatal consequences.

“Ctrl+Alt+Desire”, directed by Colin Archdeacon, includes four years of interviews with the killer, as well as recordings of his calls from prison. The series reconstructs the events from an intimate perspective, highlighting how digital isolation, emotional dependence, and lack of attention to mental health can lead to family tragedies.

The series is now available on SkyShowtime. A story that hurts, unsettles, and compels you to look beyond the screen.
