A woman who posed as a state inspector was detained in the capital municipality of Centro Habana, following several reports about her fraudulent activities in private businesses.

According to information shared on Facebook by the official profile "El Cubano Fiel", the alleged inspector had managed to evade the authorities for an extended period of time by using false documents and threats of fines that she used to extort self-employed workers.

A well-organized extortion scheme

According to the report, the woman would arrive at private establishments posing as an inspector with a fake badge, fine books, and official regulations citing the rules for self-employment.

Taking advantage of workers' fear of possible sanctions, he demanded money in exchange for not imposing allegedly regulatory fines.

His actions affected several businesses until the workers themselves decided to organize.

They created a WhatsApp group to share images of the scammer, with the intention of alerting each other and contacting the police as soon as she reappeared.

The strategy worked. On Saturday, June 21, the woman attempted to extort workers from a business located on Figura Street, between Monte and Tenerife.

However, this time he was met with an unexpected response: The employees refused to pay and immediately called the police.

Noticing the firm attitude of the workers, the woman tried to flee.

She was approached by plainclothes officers on Belascoaín Street, at the corner of Tenerife, where she was arrested and taken to the Zanja police station.
