In recent hours, the dollar has taken a step back in its average selling value in the Cuban informal market. The other two reference currencies remain unchanged.
At 9:00 a.m. (Cuban local time) this Friday, the US dollar is valued at 384 CUP, which is one peso less than the previous day, according to the monitoring conducted by the independent media elTOQUE.
Despite a slight decline in its selling price, in recent weeks the US dollar has maintained a slow but steady increase in the Cuban informal market.
The dollar began June at 370 CUP. From there, in a calm process - peso by peso and with few intermediate setbacks - it climbed to 385 CUP, a price reached on July 1, following a sudden increase of three units.
Exchange Rate Evolution
Simultaneously, the US dollar is experiencing its worst moment globally in over 50 years. Between January and June 2025, the currency has fallen by more than 10% against the major currencies of the world.
Regarding the euro and the Convertible Currency (MLC), this July 4th shows no changes: the euro remains at 425 CUP; and the Convertible Currency (MLC) is valued at 250.
