An elderly woman in Havana is experiencing moments of profound sadness and despair following the loss of her dog Kylie, who has been missing since last Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the vicinity of the Frank País Orthopedic Hospital in the municipality of La Lisa.

The family is offering a reward of $300 to anyone who helps find her and bring her back safe and sound.

Kylie is not just a pet; she is this woman's only emotional companion since her daughter emigrated from Cuba.

The activist and animal protector Yenney Caballero, who has personally followed the case, was the one who raised the alarm on social media and also reached out to the editors of CiberCuba to request support in spreading the word.

"The lady is desperate, depressed... this little dog has been her therapy companion since her daughter left the country," she wrote.

Caballero explained on Facebook that, according to witnesses, a woman had picked up the little dog: “If any animal advocate has her in their shelter, please return her. This creature is all that is left for that elderly person,” he pleaded in his post.

Kylie represents much more than a lost animal: she embodies affection, companionship, and emotional connection in a country where uprooting and family separation impact the lives of thousands.

In this regard, the Cuban influencer Ariel Ramos Perdomo, known for his viral humorous videos featuring his beloved "grandma" Martha, recently made an urgent appeal on social media to help find his dog África, who has gone missing in Varadero.

Days later, he celebrated on social media the return of his pet: “I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the person who made it possible for África, my beloved dog, to come home. Out of respect and consideration, I prefer to keep their identity anonymous, but they should know that they will always have my gratitude,” said the actor and comedian @arielramosperdomo.
