The authorities have confirmed that the incident was linked to a police chase that started minutes before the crash.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO) reported that its specialized Robbery Intervention Division (RID) attempted to stop a vehicle at the intersection of Northwest 56th Street (NW 56th St) and Northwest 27th Avenue.

According to the statement -quoted by the local press- the officers lost sight of the vehicle as it “sped away driving recklessly.”

Minutes later, the vehicle involved crashed at the intersection of NW 22nd Avenue and NW 26th Street.
