Without changes, the three reference currencies in Cuba opened this Friday in the informal market.
At 7:00 a.m. on August 22, the dollar remains valued at 405 CUP and the euro at 450.
In the case of the freely convertible currency (MLC), it currently holds at 195 CUP at which arrived yesterday, after dropping five pesos abruptly.
We will have to wait for the coming hours to see if the currencies remain stable or if the unstable trend of the past few weeks will continue, during which the upward trend of dollars and euros has been evident, alongside the decline of the MLC.
Exchange Rate Evolution
What is certain is that the national currency is going down the drain, that everyday Cubans are losing purchasing power, and that the Cuban government remains silent despite promises of currency reform of which they have yet to say a word.
