Brutal attack on a nurse at a hospital in Matanzas

A nurse from the Gyneco-Obstetric Hospital "José Ramón López Tabranes" in Matanzas was the victim of a knife attack by her former partner on Tuesday night, inside the very premises of the health facility.

The Provincial Health Directorate published an official note on social media. They noted that the incident occurred at night and that the victim was immediately attended to by medical personnel.

The nurse's health condition is stable, although she remains hospitalized under observation, receiving medical and psychological support.

Public Health reported that hospital staff immediately activated the established safety protocols. Thanks to the intervention of the center's team and the National Revolutionary Police, the aggressor was detained at the scene.

However, the official statement did not provide specific details about the circumstances of the attack. Users on social media claimed that the man passed by the security guards without being stopped, entered with a sharp weapon, and managed to stab the victim multiple times before being subdued.

One version on social media indicates that it was some pregnant women present in the area who intervened to thwart the assassination attempt.

The same source claims that this hospital has maintained for years access restrictions for men, including the fathers of newborns, who are only allowed to enter for brief moments and under the supervision of security, due to previous incidents related to family disputes.

The hospital emphatically rejected any act of violence and reaffirmed its commitment to the safety of its staff and patients. "Our thoughts and solidarity are with our colleague and her family, to whom we will provide all our support during this time," they stated from the institution.
