An unorthodox attempt to collect coconuts ended in a disaster that was as predictable as it was viral. In a video shared on Instagram by the account @onlyindade, two men can be seen improvising a dangerous strategy to reach a bunch of coconuts without tools or common sense.
While one climbs barefoot and unprotected to a nearby hut at the base of the palm tree, the other waits below, arms outstretched, seemingly convinced he can catch a rain of coconuts with his chest. Spoiler alert: he cannot.
In a matter of seconds, the bunch falls completely and hits the volunteer below, who ends up on the ground amidst virtual laughter and coconuts rolling everywhere. The images have sparked a wave of comments ranging from mockery to concern.
"Cocotasssoooo," wrote a user. Another added: "Me opening my arms to love," while someone else joked: "That gringo has never been to the Caribbean."
The collective humor didn't hold back: "He thought they were grapes," "He literally got his head ripped off," or "The whole marriage fell on him" were some of the over a thousand comments that flooded the post.
The scene also sparked sarcastic reflections on Darwin and evolution: “These are the ones selling cold coconuts for 7 dollars on Calle 8,” or “These people vote,” another profile mocked.
Beyond the laughs, the clip serves as a practical lesson on what not to do when handling heavy fruits falling from heights. The video also provides the perfect visual definition of the word "cocotazo": a dry, unexpected, and painfully unavoidable hit.
With hundreds of views, the sequence has already become part of the digital folklore that captures that blend of human audacity and clumsiness that is so popular on the internet. And although thankfully there were no major damages, at least one of the protagonists surely learned the lesson... the hard way.
