The Cuban influencer Rachel Arderi and the reggaeton artist Oniel Bebeshito sent donations of food and essential items to families affected by the passage of Hurricane Melissa, which caused severe damage in eastern Cuba.

In a video shared by La Familia Cubana, the young woman recounted that her family was directly affected by the flooding caused by the cyclone. “Contributing a little bit for the people of Cuba. My people from the east, because my whole family is in Holguín. I moved my grandfather and my entire family from where they were. My grandfather's house was completely flooded. It's a three-story house and it flooded up to the second floor,” the content creator shared, visibly moved.

Hurricane Melissa struck eastern Cuba with winds of up to 295 kilometers per hour and torrential rains, wreaking havoc on critical infrastructure. In Holguín, the Vladimir Ilich Lenin Provincial Hospital was partially rendered unusable after suffering severe flooding and blackouts that complicated medical care. Several areas of the province remain without electricity or drinking water, while sanitary and emergency services continue to be overwhelmed.

Given this situation, Rachel explained that she decided to prioritize the shipment of food, convinced that “this is what the people of Cuba need the most.” For his part, Oniel Bebeshito clarified that his gesture of solidarity is not seeking public recognition. “I don’t make donations for social media, which is why I didn’t post anything,” the singer stated for the cameras of La Familia Cubana and assured that his motivation is to help his people and not to create content.

The video of the donation delivery sparked a wave of reactions on social media, where many Cubans expressed admiration and gratitude. “What a lovely gesture, eastern Cuba is devastated, any donation is appreciated,” commented a follower. Others highlighted the artist's humility and commitment to the people. “That guy is number one without a doubt, tremendous humility, my respects,” wrote a user.
