The Cuban duo of Noslen Díaz and Jorge Luis Alayo extended their perfect run at the Adelaida 2025 World Championship of Beach Volleyball, achieving their second consecutive victory in group F and securing their presence in the next phase of the tournament.
According to the specialized site CubanSp1ke on Facebook, the Cubans decisively defeated the New Zealanders Brad Fuller and Ben O'Dea, winning 2-0 with scores of 21-16 and 21-10. This result left the Oceanians without any victories, as they had previously lost in their debut against the Portuguese players Joao Pedrosa and Hugo Campos.
Díaz and Alayo, led by Francisco Álvarez Cutiño, demonstrated strength in all fundamentals: they surpassed their opponents in attack (21-20), blocking (3-0), and service (3-2), and committed only four unforced errors, compared to the 15 of the New Zealand duo. Individually, Alayo contributed 17 points and Díaz added 10, although the highest scorer of the match was O’Dea, with 18.
The Cuban team had debuted without setbacks with a convincing 2-0 (21-11, 21-6) against Benin, thus leading their group with a record of 2-0, equal to Portugal, the team with which they will compete for first place in Group F, detailed JIT.

Gómez and Veranes managed to take a set from the Europeans and earned a valuable point in group J, a result that confirms their ability to compete against higher-level opponents. This Sunday, they will face the Swiss players Yves Haussener and Julian Friedli (ranked 32nd in the world), in a crucial match for their aspirations.
Showdown of unbeaten teams for the leadership of Group F
For their part, Díaz and Alayo will face off this Sunday at 9:30 p.m. (Cuba time), in a battle of unbeaten teams against the Portuguese, a match that will determine the leader of Group F. Cuban Spike notes that the head-to-head record between the two pairs is tied at 1-1, so a closely contested and highly demanding matchup is anticipated.
Cubans arrive with confidence, competitive spirit, and rising performance, keeping their chances of advancing to the decisive rounds alive and enhancing their already outstanding international season.
