Prosecutor's Office initiates criminal proceedings for the murder of a teacher at a pedagogical school in Guantánamo



The criminal proceedings for the murder of Professor Rolando Castelví Riñat, who was attacked with a knife while on duty at a pedagogical school, have been initiated, according to the Guantánamo prosecutor's office.

The Provincial Prosecutor's Office of Guantánamo confirmed the initiation of a criminal proceeding following the murder of Professor Rolando Castelví Riñat, which took place within the "José Maceo Grajales" Pedagogical School, a crime that has shocked the local teaching community.

According to the official statement published on Facebook by the Prosecutor's Office, the incident occurred on Tuesday night while the teacher was on duty at the educational center.

The official profile Guantánamo and its Truth reported on Facebook that Professor Rolando Castelví Riñat, who taught History, identified four young individuals who did not belong to the institution and were present within the premises.

When they were asked to leave the location, an altercation ensued in which one of the assailants attacked him from behind with a knife, inflicting a fatal wound.

The educator was transferred to the Saturnino Lora Torres Provincial Hospital, where he passed away hours later due to the severity of his injuries.

Authorities confirmed that, thanks to the testimony of a witness, two of the alleged suspects have been detained and are currently under provisional detention while the investigation led by the Provincial Prosecutor's Office of Guantánamo continues.

In its statement, the Prosecutor's Office assured that public legal action will be taken and sanctions will be sought "in accordance with the severity of the facts and the individual characteristics of the perpetrators."

The murder of Professor Castelví Riñat adds to other violent incidents recorded in the province, highlighting the deterioration of security conditions and the lack of preventive action from the authorities.
