The Cuban comedian Jardiel González returned to Havana on Tuesday, and the first thing he encountered while walking the streets was a desolate scene that he described with irony: the city taken over by "little Christmas trees," as he referred to the accumulation of trash in his hometown of Marianao.
"This is no longer just the usual situation, this is something else, a higher level… Look at how the plastic bags are hanging, full of trash; that's a little Christmas tree made from recycled materials, designed in a wasteful manner," in a video shared on Facebook.
With her usual sarcasm, she highlighted how waste multiplies in every corner, accompanied by strong odors and filth in streets that reveal urban neglect and a lack of hygiene.
"You can smell the stench, and that rejuvenates you, because it’s about going backwards; it’s all about going backwards, not forwards," he added while walking through his hometown of Marianao.
The video showcases a striking contrast between the comedian's humorous creativity and the reality of the streets of Havana, where the accumulation of garbage and sanitation issues define the everyday life of the population.
Jardiel even highlighted details such as the shine of the cans, the potholes, and the dirty water drainage that interact with the makeshift "Christmas trees," creating a scene that is critical.
The comedian shared another video of his arrival in Cuba from Miami, where he spent several months.
There, he shared family moments with his ex-partner, the comedian Cuqui La Mora, and their daughter, Lil González, in an atmosphere of warmth and family respect that touched his followers.
In a video posted on TikTok, the harmony among the three was showcased, reinforcing that they all maintain an attitude of maturity and affection despite the separation.
Previously, Jardiel spent time in Spain - he holds Spanish citizenship -, where he shared details of his daily life with his audience and humorously compared the differences between his hometown and life in Europe.
