The Cuban photographer and content creator Iván Daniel Calás Navarro has once again moved social media with a series of videos addressing a question that is both simple and profound: “Are you happy?”.

In the recordings, the young man talks to people on the streets of Havana. The responses reflect the sadness, disillusionment, and hopelessness that currently characterize life in Cuba.

“No, I am not happy,” many say, explaining that scarcity, power outages, inflation, and uncertainty rob them of their joy. Others, however, speak of faith, family, and hope as sanctuaries to avoid giving up in a country in crisis.

Iván Daniel, known for his channel Voz De Verdad, aims with this material to motivate Cubans to turn towards spirituality and rediscover inner peace amid daily chaos.

The young creator in 2023 was harassed by State Security for his religious posts.

In these recent videos about Christmas in Cuba, it shows that happiness, in times of crisis, can be an act of resistance against the imposition of views, the rise of poverty, and the repression suffered in the country.
