The opposition figure Edmundo González Urrutia reported on Thursday that the Chavista regime has not carried out "even 1% of the releases" of political prisoners.

“Meanwhile, families continue to wait. With no clear information. With no lists. With no certainties,” he added this Saturday.

González referred to his daughter Mariana González, whose husband, Rafael Tudares Bracho, has been imprisoned for a year by the Chavista regime.

"My daughter has been present every day. Accompanying and being accompanied by mothers, fathers, daughters, and sons who do not ask for privileges. They demand the fulfillment and respect of fundamental rights," said the exiled president-elect in Spain.

"The prolonged wait is not neutral. It generates anguish, revictimizes, and deepens the harm already caused by arbitrary detentions and processes without guarantees. Freedom is not declared. It is enacted. Human rights are not managed with delays or obfuscation. Every hour that passes without answers is a new form of violence against families. The responsibility is clear, and time is running out," he concluded.

On the afternoon of this Saturday, news emerged about the release of nurse Yanny Esther González Terán after five months in prison.

Earlier, Virgilio Laverde, youth coordinator of the Vente Venezuela (VV) party in Bolívar state, Didelis Raquel Corredor, assistant to the opposition activist Roland Carreño, who was also detained, and Antonio Gerardo Buzzetta Pacheco, an Italian-Venezuelan citizen who had been "arbitrarily detained" since September 30, 2024, were released, confirmed El País.

Protest by family members

This Saturday, there was also a protest by families of political prisoners near El Helicoide, one of the most emblematic detention centers in the country, demanding that the release of the remaining political prisoners be finalized.

Relatives gathered at the entrance of El Helicoide and other penitentiary facilities to denounce that they have not yet received clear official information about who and how many political prisoners will be released, nor has the release of any new individuals been confirmed beyond the symbolic numbers announced so far.

"We know nothing," expressed the protesters, joined by members of the Committee for the Freedom of Political Prisoners (CLIPPVE), who have remained gathered in anticipation of official confirmations and demand the release of all prisoners held for reasons of conscience.
