A young Cuban identified on TikTok as @doris.hernandez618 shared a video that quickly went viral, recounting an anecdote involving the reggaeton artist Jacob Forever, whom she claimed to have turned down a $100 tip from during an event in 2018.
"Now everyone is talking about Jacob Forever, but I haven't shared how I had the luxury of telling him no," said the young woman at the beginning of her video, posted on the Chinese social network.
According to his account, he was working as a VIP host at a Miami nightclub called Dimension Event during a concert known as Cubadonazo. His role there was to attend to the artists and provide them with drinks before their performances.
"There was no dressing room. The event took place at the Hard Rock Arena, and I had to attend to the artists before they performed. He was sitting on a bench, and I went to bring him water. When I handed him the cold water, he said to me, 'Take $100 as a tip.' And I had the luxury of telling him no," he explained.
The young woman stated that her refusal was not due to disdain, but out of respect: "How could I give a $100 tip to such a famous artist who represents Cuba?" she added.
The video, which has garnered thousands of views, has sparked divided comments among those who congratulate her for her gesture and those who believe she should have accepted the money as a token of appreciation from the artist.
Jacob Forever, known for hits like Hasta que se seque el malecón and La dura, has not publicly reacted to the story, but the topic has once again put his name trending among followers of the Cuban urban genre.
