In a Cuba marked by scarcity and a loss of good taste, a young stylist is restoring the elegance that was once part of the country's identity.
His name is Denny Martínez (Narciso Martiniz) and he is from Sancti Spíritus. He is promoting a project called Narciso Vintage, which is not a clothing brand, but rather a declaration of love for the history of fashion in Cuba.
The content creator Dasiel López recently published a video in which he shows how Narciso, from his workshop, rescues original pieces of Cuban haute couture made before 1959: hats, handbags, jewelry, and dresses from a time when dressing well was an expression of pride and dignity.
Many of the pieces come from legendary places like El Encanto, the mythical Havana store that was a benchmark in the Caribbean before being gradually destroyed by the regime.
While contemporary Cuban fashion is dominated by scarcity and improvisation, Narciso offers a sustainable alternative with pieces that have a lot of character and therefore require courage and high self-esteem from the model who will wear them.
Its concept does not aim to imitate trends or promote fast consumption. Here, each garment tells a story and recovers a fragment of national memory.
In a country where many believe that good taste has died, Narciso proves that elegance can still make a bold comeback. His work invites us to look back with pride and to imagine a Cuba where fashion once again reflects its identity.
