Until a few years ago, it was believed that being a successful investor in the major North American markets was reserved for bankers, economists, or individuals with advanced degrees in finance. However, a Cuban entrepreneur asserts that anyone willing to educate themselves on the principles of the stock market, regardless of their age or profession, can achieve it.

It’s not just about having money; it’s about learning to take control, following a proven method, and keeping your vision when others get distracted. On this journey, Yoel Sardiñas was shaped; he started from the bottom and now runs an investment education academy in the United States, with students in 54 countries around the world.

Sardiñas was born in Los Pinos, a humble neighborhood in the Boyeros municipality of Havana, Cuba. He began working at a very young age and saved money to fulfill his dream of thriving outside the island.

He was scammed in his first attempt to emigrate when he planned to leave Cuba on an illegal raft, but that didn't stop him. A few years later, he managed to leave for Ecuador, and from there, he continued his migration route to the United States.

His first investment in Florida was buying a truck to transport vehicles. He worked shifts that he himself describes as “28 hours a day.” That pace pushed him to his limits, but it also led him to a discovery that would change his course: the stock market.

The initial investments didn't go well

Sardiñas acknowledges in his lectures that, like many investors, his early steps were not successful. He lost money, made mistakes, and for a considerable time, acted without a strategy.

"In investing without a plan, I went bankrupt four times," he admits. It was then that, inspired by the teachings of Warren Buffett, he decided to take his education seriously. He studied at more than nine academies, extracting the truly valuable lessons from each and began to develop his own approach.

One day, with what little credit he had left, he withdrew $10,000 and used it to test one of his early hypotheses. In less than a year, that $10,000 turned into his first million. Since then, he has spent over a decade refining that system and, for the past four years, teaching it to others.

Sharing knowledge with other Spanish speakers in the United States, Latin America, and Europe

From that achievement, Sardiñas founded Investep Academy, a platform that teaches how to invest in the U.S. stock market.

His model combines technical education with mental training, as he insists that the key to success lies not just in finances, but in the ability to make decisions with clarity and focus.

"We are all equal. What you do with your time is what makes the difference. If someone else has already achieved it, you can do it too. It's the focus that will guarantee your success," he says with conviction.

The Investep Academy program combines investment theory, live sessions, and personalized mentoring, using a method that translates Wall Street's financial language into simple and applicable terms for everyone.

Since its establishment, Sardiñas claims to have trained over 22,000 people from around the world, many of whom are of Latin descent seeking economic independence.

He shares analyses, conferences, and reflections on personal finance, investments, personal growth, and discipline on social media. His discourse resonates with those who want to learn, but it also sparks debate. The story of this Cuban does not go unnoticed.

Content creator, financial mentor, or influencer?

In addition to his work as a financial mentor, Yoel Sardiñas has published two books in which he develops his method and vision on economic freedom. The first, The Secret to Learning to Invest, outlines the strategies with which he claims to have gone from losing everything to building his first million.

His second title, Millionaire Minds, Millionaire Accounts, written in collaboration with journalist and speaker Ismael Cala, expands on that philosophy and aims to motivate Latinos to take control of their finances with discipline and purpose.

The entrepreneur is also notable for his content creation on social media, with nearly 900,000 followers on Instagram, over 63,000 on YouTube, and 64,000 on TikTok.

Sardiñas is part of that generation of Cubans who found in the American system a space to start businesses, grow, and teach. His message is clear: mistakes are not final; they are part of the process.

Investep Academy has become the gateway to financial knowledge for thousands of Spanish speakers, thanks to practical tools designed to help more people learn to generate income in a strategic and sustainable way.

More than a successful investor, Yoel Sardiñas embodies the mindset of those who choose to rewrite their destiny. In his case, with the strong belief that the starting point does not determine the destination one can reach.
