Journalists from the networks Telemundo 51 and Univisión refuted on social media that their networks have teams deployed in Cuba, amid a wave of rumors about a supposed in situ coverage due to a potential political change on the Island.

Alexis Boentes wrote on Facebook: "I have been asked, and no, there are no reporters from Telemundo 51 in Havana."

In the same tone, journalist Javier Díaz from Univisión clarified: "I am not in Cuba, I am in Miami and so far there is 'no mobilization of journalists on the island'."

For his part, the influencer Alexander Otaola stated that, according to various sources, major television channels are preparing extensive coverage on Cuba regarding an event that is "about to happen."

In a broadcast on Facebook, Otaola stated: "The television channels have an order; they have been asked to prepare extensive coverage on Cuba. It is expected that at any moment there will need to be coverage on something that is about to happen (...) which is obviously related to regime change and the fall of the dictatorship."

He also stated that sources in Cuba confirmed to him that the international press would be gathered at the Hotel Nacional, and that there would even be a Mexican journalist assigned to cover the events for Univisión and channels from Mexico.

Otaola emphasized that he himself was "waiting to see what happens" and that he has been told that "everything should be ready."

"Based on what happened in Venezuela (...), things could happen when we least expect them," he said, urging his audience to stay vigilant because, according to him, "things are going to happen in the coming hours."

"It's very close; what is going to happen is about to happen," he assured.

On another note, it is confirmed that the editorial offices of the major media outlets do have internal organizational charts and preparation plans for potential coverage of a change in Cuba, as part of the standard protocols for scenarios of high news relevance, although no definite dates have been established so far.
