Although El Rancho de Destino has ended, the controversy continues to grow on social media, this time over the $20,000 awarded for third place in the reality show.
The Goddess, who placed third, assured almost from the moment she entered the competition that she would donate everything she earned to St. Jude Hospital. That promise was part of her speech during the show and was one of the elements that defined her participation.
However, the debate intensified following comments by Rey El Mago, the husband of La Diosa, which many interpreted as an implication that the payment had not been made or that there was some form of non-compliance.
In light of the rumors regarding payments — ignited by those statements — Destino decided to address the issue. “Everyone who went there was paid their money, and no one is owed anything,” he stated in a recent video.
He explained that the original prize for the reality show included only $50,000 and a Corvette for first place. Later, he decided to add $25,000 and a Honda Civic for second place, and $20,000 for third place.
"Your check is there, and we spoke with you. No one here has taken anyone's money," Destino added.
According to his words, that last amount was a voluntary gesture and was not specified in the initial contract. “That 20,000 was something voluntary… If I feel like it now, I won't give it. It’s not in the contract, and they can't take me to court because it's not in the contract,” he stated.
His statements divided opinions almost immediately. Some followers support him and remind that the only guaranteed prize from the beginning was for first place. Others believe that, since the money was publicly announced and linked to a donation, it should be fulfilled without any conditions.
The reality show may have closed its doors, but the conversation remains open. Now, the focus is not on the competition, but on promises, contracts, and the transparency of the prizes.
