Lina Luaces, current Miss Universe Cuba, participated this weekend in a demonstration in Washington D.C. in solidarity with freedom in Cuba. Through her social media, the beauty queen shared images from the event and posted an extensive message in which she reflected on the reality facing the island and the significance of representing her country in this context.

"In Cuba, peacefully gathering to demand freedom can result in arrest. No one should fear going to prison for raising their voice out of love for their country,” wrote Lina, clearly stating her position on the situation of rights and freedoms on the island. Her words accompanied black and white photographs showing her with a megaphone and holding signs during the march.

The model also spoke about the weight of carrying her title in the midst of this scenario. “Holding the title of Miss Universe Cuba at a time like this is both an honor and a great responsibility,” she expressed, acknowledging that there are days when she feels filled with hope and others when pain and helplessness accompany her as she watches her people struggle from afar.

In one of the most discussed images, she appears with a sign that says: “Millions for dictators, zero freedom for Cubans,” a phrase that encapsulates the central message of her post. Lina assured that she will continue to use her platform to defend “dignity, human rights, and, above all, freedom.”

Additionally, he stated that he will continue to raise his voice for those who cannot express themselves freely within the island and quoted a Bible verse as a message of perseverance: "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up," referencing Galatians 6:9.

The post generated numerous supportive reactions, with messages highlighting her courage and commitment. With this statement, Lina Luaces makes it clear that her reign is not solely limited to aesthetic representation, but also aims to have a social and political dimension in defense of freedom.
