Cuban reggaeton artist Yomil Hidalgo sparked controversy on social media again after he responded decisively to Cuban actor Vladimir Escudero, who had recently criticized his comments on the protests in Cuba.

The controversy arises after Escudero posted a video sharing his thoughts on the words of the urban artist, who had claimed days earlier that "99% talk and do nothing" regarding the situation in the country, which sparked an intense debate among Cubans both on the island and abroad.

In a lengthy comment posted on Instagram, Yomil reacted harshly and disparaged the actor, questioning both his career and his stance. "You haven't even been a good comedian," the singer wrote, while also defending his financial success and investments in Cuba.

The reggaeton artist stated that he has built a considerable fortune within the country, including properties, businesses, and personal projects. Among them, he mentioned a four-story mansion, the construction of another house in Guanabo, and the creation of two pizzerias, as well as an energy drink, in which he claims to have invested hundreds of thousands of dollars.

"I live in a mansion in Cuba... I have businesses, I don't pay rent, and everything I have I've earned all by myself," he stated, insisting that his economic standing is the result of his hard work and not of government assistance.

Additionally, Yomil criticized those who emigrate and then comment on the Cuban reality, clearly referring to Escudero. "What did you do when you lived in Cuba? Nothing," he stated, accusing those who left the country of "ordering" from abroad without having resolved issues within the island.

For his part, Vladimir Escudero initially reacted by sharing a screenshot of Yomil's comment on his social media. "He responded to me with a list of what he has," the actor wrote.

Later, he published a video where he elaborated on his response and questioned the reggaeton artist's approach:

"This is Yomil's response to the video message I made. There's something that always happens: when someone can't hold onto an idea, they start talking about what they have. I spoke about freedom, responsibility, and the different realities between the Cuban who is outside and the one who is inside, and the response I receive is how many houses do you have, how much did you invest, how many businesses have you started... in other words, a inventory, brother. That's not an argument; that's a list of assets. No one was asking about your wealth."
