The Cuban pitcher Yariel Rodríguez continues to struggle with stability within the Toronto Blue Jays, as recent reports indicate that he will not be part of the Opening Day 2026 roster.

According to the page Pelota Cubana on Facebook, Rodríguez had already been designated for assignment (DFA) last December and was subsequently sent to Triple A, in a move that reflected the organization's doubts about his role on the team. Now, he will remain at that level in hopes of moving up to the main roster during the campaign.

Neither his outstanding performance with Cuba in the World Baseball Classic nor his showing in Spring Training—where he did not achieve good results—were enough to secure a spot on the main roster.

The law will now face a new challenge: to forge a path again from the minor leagues in search of a new opportunity in the Major Leagues.
