Vente Venezuela, the opposition party founded by María Corina Machado, reopened this Saturday its national headquarters known as "El Bejucal," located in the Altamira neighborhood in Caracas, after more than a year closed due to the political persecution by the Chavista regime.
The event began at 10:00 a.m. local time and was led by Henry Alviarez, the national organization coordinator of the party, who was released on February 8, 2026 after spending almost two years in prison at El Helicoide.
Among the attendees, slogans were heard such as "Venezuela wants a democracy! Long live a free Venezuela!", in an atmosphere of celebration that those present described as historic.
The journalist Orlando Avendaño documented the moment from Caracas: "This is the Vente Venezuela headquarters in Caracas, the party of María Corina Machado, after being closed for nearly two years due to political persecution."
The headquarters "El Bejucal" had been attacked in August 2024 by armed and masked men who subdued the guards, stole equipment and documents, and caused vandalistic damage, as part of the repression unleashed by Maduro's regime following the presidential elections in July of that year.
Alviarez, who led the reopening, had been arrested on March 20, 2024 alongside former deputy Dignora Hernández by Sebin forces, accused of being linked to violent plans related to those elections.
He was detained in El Helicoide for nearly two years before being released under precautionary measures.
In March 2026, Alviarez reported that he was denied the amnesty benefit enacted at the end of February, describing the situation as "foreseeable."
Despite this, the leader expressed optimism about the country's future: "I have no doubt that María Corina will be back in Venezuela", he stated in an interview with NTN24.
The reopening of the headquarters occurs in the context of the Venezuelan political transition that began after the capture of Nicolás Maduro on January 3, 2026, during the so-called "Operation Absolute Resolution," carried out by special forces of the United States Army with intelligence from the CIA.
Since then, Delcy Rodríguez assumed the role of interim president, while the opposition led by Machado and the elected president Edmundo González Urrutia demands a full democratic transition. Machado, who left Venezuela in December 2025, declared on March 12 from Santiago de Chile: "We have already defeated them; what remains is to displace them."
The international context also supports the process: on March 14, the reopening of the United States embassy in Caracas was formalized after seven years of diplomatic rupture, and delegations of American investors have begun visiting the country.
