Michel Torres Corona, host of the state program "Con Filo", posted on his Facebook wall a video clip titled "WHAT YOU DIDN'T SEE", in which he directly lashes out at Sandro Castro -grandson of Fidel Castro- for his statements in an interview with CNN, which the regime prevented from being aired on television.
The censored clip responds to the interview Sandro Castro gave to journalist Patrick Oppmann from CNN, recorded in his apartment in Havana on March 30 and 31, in which the Havana influencer criticized Miguel Díaz-Canel and openly declared himself pro-capitalist.
In the excerpt published this Wednesday, Torres Corona employs biting language to attack those, like Sandro Castro, who criticize the government from a position of inherited privilege.
"It’s frustrating to see people whose only achievement in life is having been the fastest sperm criticizing the Cuban government lightly and denying our socialist Constitution, approved by popular referendum, posing as capitalists as if this were a game."
The presenter also described it as unacceptable to "joke about a tour with the tyrant that suffocates Cuba," referring to Sandro's statements about the possibility of rapprochement with the Trump administration.
The episode of "Con Filo" that did air on Tuesday, titled "It’s Cold Without You, Trump," focused solely on mocking statements made by President Donald Trump about Cuba and the arrival of a Russian oil tanker carrying more than 700,000 barrels of crude, without any mention of Sandro Castro or his interview with CNN.
This absence sparked a massive reaction among Cuban viewers, who ignored the topic proposed by the program and demanded a statement regarding Fidel's grandson.
"Why don't you dedicate one of your programs to discussing the interview with Sandro Castro? We have to criticize everything, right?" wrote an internet user.
Another user was more direct: "They don't talk about that; they know where it says DANGER," referring to the limits the regime imposes even on its own propaganda.
The general perception is that "Con Filo" applies a double standard: it sarcastically attacks activists, independent journalists, and content creators who are critical of the government, but remains silent in the face of controversies involving members of the Castro elite.
In his interview with CNN, Sandro Castro stated that the majority of Cubans want capitalism, not communism, and harshly criticized Díaz-Canel: "In my opinion, he is not doing a good job, because for a while now he should have done many things that haven’t been done well and that are currently harming us."
By posting the censored excerpt on his personal wall, Torres Corona highlighted what the regime did not want Cubans to see, in a gesture that reveals the internal tensions within the state's own propaganda machinery.
Since May 2025, internet users ironically pointed out that "Con Filo" would never dare to criticize Sandro Castro.
As summarized by a Cuban user on social media: "Sandrito has said worse things than Anna Sofía Benítez Silvente and the guys from El4tico, and I see him free... so go ahead, we are looking forward to a good report."
