The Cuban reggaeton artist Dany Ome publicly defended the tattoo that his partner, known as "La China", got of his face on her back after the act triggered a wave of criticism on social media.

The tattoo, which features the artist's face in large size alongside their name, was shared on Instagram by the tattoo artist themselves and quickly became a topic of conversation within the Cuban entertainment scene on social media.

"She is the mother of my children, the woman of my life, the one who has been with me since the beginning, back when we had nothing. People talk without knowing, they say she is interested, as if I were a monster. We were together when we lived in a small studio and had nothing. That tattoo was a surprise I asked for when we were kids, and she decided to get it now. I don't care what people say, because she did it with all the love in the world," said the artist in an interview, directly addressing the criticism.

The reactions came quickly, and most were harsh: many users questioned both "La China"'s decision and the aesthetic result of the work. "The issue isn't tattooing someone; it's that the tattoo didn't turn out well," summarized one user, reflecting the most common opinion in the comments.

In response to the flood of criticism, Dany Ome replied in two parts. First, with a message of support for the tattoo artist: "My tanke, I love you."

He then became more direct with those questioning his partner's decision: "The one who got it tattooed knows, I don’t have to say what you want to hear because the relationship is mine, not yours. Chill."

In a video published on TikTok, Dany Ome expanded on that defense in a conversation with a content creator, reaffirming his stance and making it clear that outside opinions have no place in his relationship.

The singer and "La China" have been together for nearly a decade, since they were both teenagers: he was 16 and she was 15 when their story began. Today, they have two children together and reside in the United States.

It's not the first time the couple has had a viral moment. On March 26, while Dany Ome was touring in Spain with Kevincito El 13, he sent mariachis to "La China" to celebrate her birthday, accompanied by an emotional message: "Words are unnecessary when it comes to you… happy birthday."

She responded with the same energy: "Thank you for the mariachis, they made my birthday brighter. I will always love you."

The tattoo, controversial or not, has already fulfilled its purpose on social media. And Dany Ome is clear about it: what happens within their relationship is a matter for two.
