The Cuban regime published an official statement titled "Girón is today and always" on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of that historic event. The text reaffirms the rejection of any U.S. interference and calls for national and international mobilization in defense of socialism.

The official newspaper Granma and Cubadebate shared the statement one day after the commemorative event for the 65th Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Socialist Character of the Revolution, presided over by Miguel Díaz-Canel on April 16 at the corner of 23 and 12 in Havana.

There is a central phrase that summarizes the document's defiant tone: "Cuba will never be a trophy, nor just another star in the American constellation."

The text lists a series of accusations against Washington regarding the energy embargo exacerbated by the Executive Order signed by Donald Trump on January 29; statements from U.S. officials about potential military aggression; and pressure on governments in the region to sever ties with Havana.

The statement also references the 32 Cuban military personnel who died on January 3 during the U.S. operation in Caracas that ended with the capture of Nicolás Maduro, as well as the incident on February 25 in Villa Clara, when Cuban forces repelled an alleged armed infiltration from Florida.

The document cites the Memorandum from Undersecretary of State Lester Mallory, dated April 6, 1960, as historical evidence of Washington's intentions: "To quickly employ all possible means to weaken Cuba's economic life (...) to diminish its financial resources and real wages, provoke hunger, desperation, and the overthrow of the Government."

The declaration reproduces excerpts from Díaz-Canel's speech this Thursday, where he called on Cubans to be ready to combat if a military aggression occurs, just as it did on April 16, 1961. Furthermore, it explicitly mentions that Raúl Castro remains on the ready alongside the people.

The text highlights the support of the Convoy Nuestra América  and the solidarity of Mexico, Russia, China, and Vietnam, which it describes as "pillars of dignity" that do not yield to the pressure from the United States.
