The United States military is reportedly preparing to board and seize vessels linked to Iran in international waters in the coming days, according to officials quoted by The Wall Street Journal, in a new phase of pressure against Tehran.

The measure is part of a broader strategy called Economic Fury, which aims to weaken the Iranian economy and compel concessions regarding its nuclear program.

The operation would expand the scope of U.S. military actions beyond the Middle East, aiming to intercept oil tankers and other commercial ships associated with Iran, including vessels from the so-called “dark fleet,” used to transport crude oil clandestinely.

Tensions have escalated following attacks attributed to Iranian forces against commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial route for global energy trade.

Additionally, Washington has reinforced its naval presence and has already forced several Iranian ships to return to port, while warning that vessels that do not comply could be boarded or confiscated.

According to the published information, the Iranian military has intensified its control over the Strait of Hormuz, going so far as to attack several commercial vessels and declaring that the route is "strictly controlled," raising concerns in the international shipping industry.

These actions occur despite prior statements from the Iranian Foreign Minister, who claimed that the strait remained open to commercial traffic, a statement that was well received by President Donald Trump.

Although both sides maintain diplomatic contacts and avoid direct large-scale confrontation, the situation remains volatile, with stalled negotiations and the risk of new military escalations in the region.
