The content creator Sisi Aguilera published this Tuesday a video on Facebook in which she highlights the silent agony that thousands of Cubans endure while being unable to find the medications they need to survive.
I want to raise my voice for many people in Cuba who are living a very silent agony: the need for a medication on which their lives depend," he stated.
He mentioned those who live with an illness like diabetes and do not have insulin to take, "you simply die," he emphasized.
He also stated that many of these medications, which cannot be found in pharmacies, can be purchased on the black market at excessively high prices.
In light of that reality, she questioned: "Do medications exist in the country or not?" And she affirmed that many families are faced with the difficult decision of either purchasing one of these medications or feeding their families.
In Cuba, the shortage of medications has become one of the most serious crises facing the population, especially for those suffering from chronic illnesses.
The collapse of the healthcare system, worsened by poor state management, lack of domestic production, and insufficient imports, has led to the disappearance of essential medications from pharmacies.
In this scenario, the black market has established itself as the only alternative, with prices unattainable for the majority, forcing thousands of families to choose between buying medicine or meeting essential needs such as food.
Independent organizations and citizens have repeatedly denounced this situation, which directly affects the quality of life and the survival of patients.
