The K-pop group NTX posted a video on their official Instagram account dancing to the Cuban song "Tienes" (Remix, produced by Dj Honda), featuring the artists Ice Dilan, Rey Tony, Helabusador, and JipMusic Global, and it sparked a viral reaction on social media.
The clip, accompanied by the description "Cuban cast!! #NTX", has accumulated over 330,000 views in three days, eliciting a flood of reactions that blend surprise, pride, and humor.
In the video, six young people appear with the characteristic urban aesthetic of K-pop, dancing in what seems to be a hallway or rehearsal area in Seoul.
The most popular comment captures the widespread reaction: "I never imagined seeing this". Other users also expressed their disbelief: "It has to be AI, right?".
The Cuban pride was also strongly felt: "Cuba has never been so united as in these comments."
The reference to the international reach of the genre did not take long to emerge: "They beat Peru," wrote another internet user, referring to the strong foothold that the cast has gained in that country since 2021.
The reparto is a Cuban musical genre that originated in the humble neighborhoods of Havana, without support from official media or state record labels. It fuses reggaeton, timba, rumba, and guaguancó.
His foundational figure is Chocolate MC, known as "The King of Reparto," who propelled the genre from 2010 and solidified it in 2015 with the track "Guachineo," alongside DJ Unic.
NTX is preparing to embark on a tour across Latin America, and this could be the reason they are practicing Latin dances. For a K-pop group based in Seoul to embrace this rhythm with Cuban popular roots represents a cultural crossover that explains the mix of disbelief and pride that flooded the comments.
"I'm dying! The cast over there! My God, what pride, I love it!" wrote another user, capturing the prevailing sentiment among Cubans who discovered the video.
