Taylor Swift and Bad Bunny lead the historical ranking of the most streamed artists in Spotify's 20 years of existence, according to global data published this Thursday by the platform to celebrate its anniversary.
Spotify unveiled for the first time in its history the definitive lists of the most streamed artists, albums, and songs of all time, with data accumulated up to April 2026.
"Twenty years have passed since Spotify began, but the real story is what the world chose to listen to," the platform noted in its official statement.
Taylor Swift leads the all-time ranking with over 106.6 billion total streams, a figure that makes her the most streamed artist of all time on the platform.
Her dominance was particularly established in 2023 and 2024, years in which she was also the most listened to artist of the year according to Spotify Wrapped, partly propelled by her Eras Tour, which generated 26.1 billion streams just in 2023.
In May 2025, after regaining the rights to her first six albums, her sales skyrocketed even further: Speak Now grew by 430%, Taylor Swift by 220%, and Reputation by 175%, among others.
Bad Bunny ranks second in the all-time standings and is the Latin artist with the greatest impact on the platform since its inception.
The Puerto Rican reggaeton artist was the most listened to artist of the year on four occasions: 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2025.
In 2020, he became the first Hispanic artist to top the annual ranking of Spotify Wrapped, with over 8.3 billion streams that year.
She also achieved three consecutive years at the top from 2020 to 2022, an unprecedented record that the platform celebrated by gifting her three custom rings in December 2022.
His album "Un Verano Sin Ti" (2022) is also the most streamed album in Spotify history, surpassing all others in the album rankings.
The rest of the top 10 artists include Drake (3rd), The Weeknd (4th), Ariana Grande (5th), Ed Sheeran (6th), Justin Bieber (7th), Billie Eilish (8th), Eminem (9th), and Kanye West (10th).
The Latin presence in the ranking is remarkable: in addition to Bad Bunny in second place, J Balvin appears in 15th place, highlighting the increasing significance of Spanish-speaking music in global streaming.
In the album rankings, "MAÑANA SERÁ BONITO (BICHOTA SEASON)" by Karol G stands out at number 14 and "YHLQMDLG" by Bad Bunny at number 15.
This Latin growth is backed by concrete figures: Spanish music increased from representing 8% of global streams on Spotify in 2015 to 27% in 2025, a rise of over 2,500% in streams, equivalent to 587 billion additional plays.
In terms of songs, "Blinding Lights" by The Weeknd leads with over 5.19 billion streams, followed by "Shape of You" by Ed Sheeran and "Sweater Weather" by The Neighbourhood.
Spotify was founded on April 23, 2006 in Stockholm, Sweden, by Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon, in response to the music piracy crisis that the industry was facing at that time.
In two decades, the platform grew to reach 751 million monthly active users and 290 million Premium subscribers, operating in 184 markets around the world.
The rivalry between Taylor Swift and Bad Bunny has defined the streaming era over the last decade, and the rankings for the 20th anniversary confirm it: together they hold the first and second positions among artists, the most listened to album of all time, and several of the most played records in history.
