The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) requested public assistance in its investigation into the suspicious disappearance of Alejandro Jacomino González, a 41-year-old Cuban truck driver who was last seen on April 17.

The Tampa division of the FBI issued a public alert on April 24, asking for public assistance in locating the driver, who may have been a victim of kidnapping.

Jacomino González, a commercial driver (CDL) for a transportation company, was transporting vehicles from the port of Brunswick, Georgia, to Miami. He was last seen on Friday, April 17, at a rest area on Interstate 95, in Brevard County, Florida.

Born on February 8, 1985, in Cuba and residing in the United States, González is described as a Hispanic man standing 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds, bald, with brown beard and mustache, and brown eyes. He has a tattoo covering his entire left arm, another on the lower part of his right arm, and the name "Elisia" tattooed on his right forearm. He speaks English and Spanish, as indicated in the official statement.

According to the timeline reconstructed by researchers, on April 16, Jacomino González picked up several vehicles at the Port of Brunswick, Georgia, destined for Miami, where they were to be delivered.

At 1:21 a.m. the following day, the truck driver arrived at the rest area in Brevard County on I-95 South in Grant-Valkaria, where he stopped to rest for several hours. At 7:49 a.m., the truck's GPS recorded that the vehicle headed south to an exit, but then turned north towards Jacksonville.

"Shortly after, González stopped responding to communications and the truck was reported missing," specified the FBI.

On that same day, authorities located the truck in Port Wentworth, Georgia, but Jacomino González was not aboard, and several of the vehicles being transported had gone missing.

"Since the discovery of the truck, three vehicles have been located in Florida. Others remain missing, along with González," the official statement added.

The FBI referred to the incident as a "car carrier kidnapping in Brevard County" and is investigating it as a suspicious disappearance with potential deprivation of liberty.

The federal agency requested individuals to submit photographs and videos taken in the rest area of Brevard County in Grant-Valkaria, between 1:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. on April 17, with particular interest in the southern part of the area, near the access ramp to I-95 South.

This case is similar to that of another Cuban truck driver, Alexis Sánchez Azcuy, 48 years old and a resident of Miami, who went missing on March 13, 2022, in Texas while working on a long-distance cargo route.

Sánchez Azcuy's truck was found abandoned with traces of blood in Winkler County, Texas, and an investigation was launched, which also involved the FBI. Months after the disappearance of the driver, his murder was confirmed.

In July 2025, the perpetrator, Ramón Alejandro Rodríguez Hernández, was sentenced to life in prison plus an additional 20 years.
