Maluma surprised his followers with an emotional video on Instagram in which he announced his new studio album, titled Loco x Volver, scheduled for May 15.

The Colombian singer appeared visibly nervous but overflowing with excitement as he shared news that, in his own words, he has been keeping for two years.

"I'm nervous, I'm nervous, but I want to make this video in the most natural, organic, and calm way possible because what I'm about to share is very important to me and to everyone," the artist began before dropping the bombshell.

The announcement left no room for speculation: new album, confirmed title, and exact release date on the table.

"I have been working on this for two years. A new album comes out on May 15. It's called Loco por Volver," he declared, his voice choked with emotion.

The name of the album is not coincidental. Juan Luis Londoño Arias —the artist's real name— explained that the title came from a deep desire to reconnect with his most authentic identity.

"It's called Loco por Volver because I missed Juan Luis, I missed my essence, I missed that dreamer child, and I returned, I returned, I returned. Now I'm well, I'm strong, I'm happy," she confessed.

The artist described the project as a process of personal healing and referred to it as the most important work of his entire career.

"It’s an album that helped me heal, it’s an album that is undoubtedly the most important and personal one I have ever made," he stated.

The album will feature 14 songs and has already released at least four singles: Pa' la Seca (featuring Ryan Castro), 1+1 (featuring Kany García), BOTERO (featuring Arcángel and NTG), and Con el corazón (featuring Yeison Jiménez), a collaborator who tragically passed away in a plane accident earlier this year, adding a special emotional weight to the project.

The signs had been there from the beginning. On April 1st, Maluma recreated his famous meme about lunch in a restaurant in Envigado on social media and uttered the phrase "I was crazy to come back. We're coming back," which now makes complete sense.

The new work marks a departure from Don Juan (2023), his previous studio album, where he explored a more glamorous alter ego. With Loco x Volver, the artist bets on a return to his Colombian roots and his most genuine essence.

"An album that represents my roots, my culture, my essence, and my heart," Maluma summarized at the end of the video.

The post garnered over 634,000 views, 155,786 likes, and more than 4,000 comments in just a few hours, with fans from across Latin America expressing their excitement and counting the days until May 15.

Maluma, who has collaborated with Shakira on several hits throughout his career, concluded the announcement with a dedication that encapsulates the spirit of the album: “With discipline, with hard work, with effort, with sacrifice, and with great humility, we can achieve our dreams.”

May 15 is shaping up to be a key date in Latin music for 2026, and the artist's community of followers already has it marked on their calendars.
