The dollar reaches 536 Cuban pesos (CUP), the euro hits 615 CUP, and the MLC rises to 420 CUP.

The day reinforces an upward trend that shows no signs of slowing down.

The dollar rises by one peso compared to Sunday, the euro advances by five pesos, and the MLC sees the largest increase of the day with a jump of 20 pesos after dropping to 400 CUP yesterday.

The euro has thus reached a new historic high, just days after it reached 610 CUP on Saturday, marking a second consecutive record within 48 hours. The European currency broke through the psychological barrier of 600 CUP for the first time on April 19, and since then, it has continued to rise.

The dollar, for its part, surpassed its historical high of 535 CUP on Sunday, a figure that had already exceeded the maximum projection of the Cuban Currency and Finance Observatory (OMFi), which estimated a ceiling of 533 CUP for the end of April.

Among the structural factors explaining the continuous depreciation of the Cuban peso are the energy crisis caused by the disruption of Venezuelan oil shipments and the suspension of Mexican supplies since January 2026, the decline in tourism, the scarcity of foreign currency in the banking system, and excessive monetary issuance linked to the fiscal deficit.
