A Cuban living abroad announced in a video call to her family in Cuba that she will soon travel to the island, and the moment was captured in a video circulating on TikTok under the humorous title "Notifying the heart patients in the family."

In the clip, the user @jj_iris_lft first reveals some news about her brother Rolly: “Look, my brother Rolly is not going with Mayrelly. Nor with the business. He is going with someone else,” she tells her family member on the other side of the screen.

The surprise multiplies when he describes the companion: "The man is thin, tall, ugly. Maribel knows him. His name is Javier."

Then comes the main announcement: "I'm going too," says the protagonist, unleashing the excitement of her family member in Cuba, who responds with "How wonderful, my mom" and "Oh, my girl, how great."

The woman requests absolute discretion throughout the conversation: "No one can know. Maribel knows, yes. But no one, that's why I’m telling you that no one should hear me because I don’t want Rafael nor Mela nor anyone to find out."

It also explains that her original plan was to arrive unexpectedly, but the fear of causing too much of a scare led her to give advance notice: “I think I wanted to surprise her, but I don't want her to be frightened.”

With the same care, he asks his family member to inform the boy Rigo privately, recalling that during a previous trip, the excitement had also affected him: "Tell Rigo without Díazmé or my brother hearing you, tell the boy so he doesn't get scared too, because during the trip with my mom, he also got scared."

The humor in the title reflects a widely shared collective awareness within the Cuban diaspora: the emotion of welcoming a returning family member can be physically intense, especially for older individuals or those with health issues.

This type of video is part of a recurring phenomenon on TikTok since 2025, where Cubans abroad document the moment of announcing or executing a visit to the island. A Cuban woman surprised her mother after six years apart in April, generating a viral reaction of tears and hugs.

In March, a mother in Cuba reacted with disbelief when her son walked through the door unexpectedly, in another video that quickly went viral on social media.

In January, a Cuban woman returned as a surprise, and her father reacted emotionally despite his blood pressure, and in May 2025, a Cuban woman arrived with her children to surprise their grandmother in a moment that also moved thousands of users.

The massive Cuban migration in recent years has left countless families separated for months or even years, turning each reunion—or even the simple announcement of a visit—into a highly emotional event that resonates with millions of people around the world.
