The Cuban model and influencer Haniset Rodríguez alarmed her followers on Instagram by revealing that she was close to losing her life after injecting herself with Mounjaro (tirzepatide), the popular diabetes medication that has become a trend among celebrities and influencers for weight loss.
In a series of stories posted on her account @hanisetrodriguez, the Cuban residing in Miami confessed in the first person about her experience: "I was on the brink of death. Because of those injections that are being given now as if nothing is happening."
Haniset named the medication outright: "Yes, Mounjaro (tirzepatide). I say this to raise awareness."
The reaction she experienced was devastating. In her own words, "I had a severe poisoning that led to anaphylaxis (horrible), my face became deformed and my body looked like literal leprosy. I wouldn't wish that on anyone."
The influencer was hospitalized for several days before being able to recover. "I managed to get out of that difficult time unharmed, I was hospitalized for several days. But it was very hard for me, and I wouldn't wish that on anyone else," she wrote.

In another of her stories, Haniset shared information about the risks of the medication, warning that "tirzepatide can cause serious allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis (a potentially fatal reaction) and angioedema, although these are rare."
His final message was a direct warning: "My recommendation is that you don't follow blindly; seek out information, read thoroughly, before deciding to put a pill, injections, etc., into your body."
The case of Haniset is part of the global rise in the use of injections like Mounjaro and Ozempic among public figures for weight loss, even though these drugs were originally designed for patients with type 2 diabetes. Mounjaro was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in May 2022 for diabetes and in November 2023 for obesity.
It is not the first time Haniset has starred in an episode that shakes her followers. In October 2025, the influencer reported a million-dollar real estate scam in Cape Coral, Florida, that affected more than 11 families, and in February 2026 she recounted witnessing a fatal accident while driving on I-95 in Miami.
More and more public figures are speaking out about the real risks behind these weight loss methods, reminding us that any medical treatment should always be conducted under professional supervision.
