The City of Hialeah announced this Wednesday the launch of the "Palm Centre Business Opportunity Program", an initiative that offers commercial spaces rent-free for at least one year to qualifying entrepreneurs and small businesses.

The premises are located in the commercial area of Palm Centre, at Palm Avenue and 3rd Street, an area that the local government aims to revitalize by attracting new businesses.

Mayor Bryan Calvo personally announced the initiative through his Instagram account, with a direct message to those who have been thinking about starting a business for some time.

"If you have a business idea or have been wanting to open your own place for a while, this could be your opportunity. Some selected businesses could receive a year of free rent as part of this initiative," Calvo announced.

The mayor also specified what types of ventures the program is looking for: cafes, pilates or yoga studios, gyms, and restaurants, among other new and appealing businesses for the community.

"We want to bring new and different businesses to Hialeah and continue enlivening our commercial spaces," Calvo added in the same post.

Interested businesses must review the requirements and submit an application along with supporting materials on the official website of the city of Hialeah.

Calvo, the youngest mayor in the history of Hialeah and the state of Florida, took office in January 2026 after winning the special election on November 4, 2025 with over 52% of the votes.

Since taking office as mayor, Calvo has promoted an economic renewal agenda that includes stimulus checks for homeowners over 65 years old and the establishment of the advisory group CUBAT to audit contracts and licenses of companies with possible links to the Cuban regime.

The program offering free premises adds to that agenda and directly addresses one of the main obstacles for new entrepreneurs: the initial cost of commercial rent.

Hialeah, known as the "City of the Sun," is a hub of Cuban and Latin American entrepreneurship in South Florida, with thousands of small businesses founded by immigrants that have thrived from the ground up.

The initiative does not specify a deadline for submitting applications, so interested parties should check the official city website for updated requirements and timelines for the selection process.
