Georgina Rodríguez once again became one of the major highlights of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, but part of the conversation on social media shifted away from her impeccable look towards a debate that, once again, placed a woman's body under public scrutiny.
The model and influencer attended the red carpet of the festival this Monday for the premiere of the film Fjord, directed by Cristian Mungiu, wearing a custom-made long dress by Tunisian designer Ali Karoui: a mermaid cut, sweetheart neckline, and floral lace in a pearly gray tone with a semi-transparent effect.
The look was completed with a high-jewelry necklace from Chopard —the brand she represents— featuring a central emerald of 88 carats surrounded by diamonds, and her oval diamond engagement ring weighing 37 carats.
The long, dark, wavy hair, the makeup with pronounced contouring and nude lips, along with a completely confident attitude in front of the cameras, created a high-impact editorial aesthetic that placed her among the best-dressed of the day.
However, several publications that covered her appearance on the red carpet were filled with critiques, comments, and speculation.
Dozens of users began to point out a supposed "belly" visible beneath the dress and to ask if Georgina was pregnant. Comments such as "Baby on board"; "Is she pregnant?"; "She's pregnant for SURE"; or "How many months along is she?" filled the forum.
Neither Georgina Rodríguez nor her circle have confirmed any pregnancy, and there is no official source to support those speculations.
Several users also pointed to a simpler explanation: the design of the dress. "Girls, it’s the dress that creates that image, don’t make things up," wrote one person. Another comment was more detailed: "Adding pleats right at the lower abdomen only creates unnecessary volume that doesn’t flatter anyone. There was a lack of guidance there."
In the face of a wave of criticism, many other users came to Georgina's defense and took the opportunity to highlight the disproportionate aesthetic pressure that public women face.
"What's wrong with having a little belly now? Stop criticizing. It doesn't have to be perfect," wrote a user.
Another comment was straightforward: "Are those who criticize her okay? I'm not a fan of hers, but she has a healthy body. And she's an athlete."
A user raised the most uncomfortable question of the debate: "Isn't it astonishing to see a woman criticize another woman's body? Don't they swell during ovulation, retain water, or have their period? Or do they always have a flat tummy?"
Another summarized it humorously: "I have been pregnant like this for several years, but for more months."
The phenomenon is not new for Georgina. With over 67 million followers on Instagram and global media exposure as the partner of Cristiano Ronaldo, businesswoman, model, and star of the Netflix reality show Soy Georgina, any change in her appearance triggers immediate reactions on social media.
At Cannes 2022, she dazzled in a silver dress by Ali Karoui adorned with over 120,000 Swarovski crystals, and for this 2026 edition, the same designer has once again created her most talked-about look.
What the comments section of Cannes 2026 reveals is that even at one of the most glamorous events in the world, social media continues to turn women's bodies into a subject of public debate, regardless of what they may have gone to celebrate.
