The news has come to light after the television network confirmed on the ICE portal that a woman named Alina Rosales Aguirreurreta is in custody.

In February, Martí Noticias revealed that Rosales Aguirreurreta had entered the United States in 2023 on a tourist visa and was residing in Miami.

The arrest takes place within the framework of the Trump administration's tightened immigration policy, which has intensified arrest and deportation operations in Florida, including for Cubans with irregular immigration status.

The case takes on a political and symbolic dimension due to the profile of his father: Ulises Rosales del Toro is one of the most influential generals in the history of the Cuban regime, a former Minister of Sugar, former Minister of Agriculture, and a man with absolute trust from the Castro power for decades.

The arrest contrasts with the life that, according to media reports, the general's family has led. A investigation into the privileges of the Rosales del Toro family, conducted by journalist Mario J. Pentón with the participation of Luis Domínguez for Martí Noticias, documented how their children, grandchildren, and relatives have enjoyed international travels and access to exclusive homes and businesses.

"The family of Ulises Rosales del Toro enjoys a life of privileges, travel, and luxuries that are unattainable for most Cubans," the research noted.

Among the documented details is that another daughter of the general, Suema Rosales Aguirreurreta, would live between Cancún and Cuba, with frequent trips and business in Havana.

A son of the general resides in Italy and celebrated a lavish wedding in Naples, with family members traveling from various European countries.

Granddaughter Daniela Rosales Pérez was showcasing her travels across Europe on social media in July 2021, while thousands of Cubans took to the streets in the protests of July 11th.

In 2017, another daughter of the general, Perla Rosa Rosales Aguirreurreta, took over the management of Habaguanex S.A., the Cuban state enterprise for tourism and heritage, following the departure of Eusebio Leal.

The investigation also identified a family associated with a high-level housing rotation system reserved for families in power in Cuba, as well as a luxury private nursery called "Dulces Sueños," linked to residential addresses prohibited for the average Cuban.

Alina Rosales' case is not the only one that demonstrates how relatives of regime figures have established connections with the United States.

A investigation into the relatives of Cuban officials in the U.S. revealed that family members of other high-ranking officials also reside or manage businesses from U.S. territory, while the regime they represent keeps millions of Cubans in poverty.

The specific details regarding the detention of Alina Rosales —exact date, place of incarceration, and circumstances of the arrest— have not been independently verified as of the time of this publication.
