The Cuban reggaeton artist L Kimii once again moved his fans this week by sharing a very special video in his Instagram stories: the moment when his mother receives a car in Cuba and breaks down in tears of joy as she sits in the driver's seat.
In the images, the woman is shown inside the vehicle, with her hands on her face and visibly shocked by the surprise, while the singer accompanied the clip with a heartfelt phrase: “It’s all thanks to you”.
The gesture came just hours after the artist himself flaunted the purchase of a Lamborghini on social media, prompting many followers to highlight the contrast between indulging in a personal luxury and continuing to fulfill dreams for his family.
For those who have been following L Kimii's story since its beginnings, this moment holds a special significance. The singer, whose real name is Osniel Andrés Cobarrubia Alfonso, has mentioned on several occasions that he grew up in the Los Sitios neighborhood of Central Havana, selling cookies alongside his mother to survive before emigrating to the United States in 2022.
Since then, much of his public achievements have been tied to tributes to her. At the beginning of May, the artist showcased the purchase of his first house in the United States and dedicated it to his mother with a message that went viral: "My mom has a house in the United States." At that moment, she reacted with excitement during a video call from Cuba while he was signing the documents.
It hasn't been the only detail. In 2025, he had already surprised his mother by sending her gifts and serenades on the island, moments he shared on social media, making it clear that his bond with her is a central part of his personal story.
The gift of the car comes during a time when L Kimii has been particularly vocal about the situation in Cuba. Recently, he publicly denounced the blackouts that his family was experiencing on the island and shared images from his father's home after more than 36 hours without electricity. He has also used his social media and music to express support for political prisoners and to send messages against the Cuban regime.
That contrast between the success achieved in Miami and the memories of a childhood marked by deprivation is precisely what resonates most with his audience. For many of his followers, seeing the artist's mother crying in the car was not just about a material gift, but a representation of a story of sacrifice, emigration, and familial gratitude that thousands of Cubans feel as their own.
